“ A Defense Department official has been charged with conspiracy to communicate classified information to an agent of a foreign government, David Kris, Assistant Attorney General for National Security; Dana J. Boente, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia; and Arthur M. Cummings, II, Executive Assistant Director of the FBI’s National Security Branch, announced today. A criminal complaint unsealed today in the Eastern District of Virginia alleges that, from approximately Nov. 2004 to Feb. 11, 2008, James Wilbur Fondren, Jr., while serving as an employee of the Defense Department, unlawfully and knowingly conspired with others to communicate classified information to another person who he had reason to believe was an agent or representative of a foreign government.

Federal Bureau of Investigation - The Washington Field Office: Department of Justice Press Release

I get cold war chills reading this press release. Apparently, he was selling classified docs to China.

Dispatch From Lostinthought

retropolitics:

Screw trying to raise my Tumblarity! I want to win-win-win! I’m gonna see how fast I can tank my numbers. If my overnight stats are any indication - I outta be dead in the water in no time at all.

Actually, apparently you need do nothing to tank your numbers. The algorithm seems to be sentient and suffering from a heavy case of PMS. My figures were up by 100 cookie points this morning. By getting new posts out and doing what I regularly do (which is goof around, post my regular drivel, etc.), I lost 120 of said points three or four hours later. It’s the most bizarre and unpredictable application I have seen so far. And if today is any indication, one to be ignored as well.

“ Dubbed dial-a-fatwa and dial-a-sheikh in its native Egypt, [the phone line] will draw on the expertise of scholars from Cairo’s al-Azhar University to provide perplexed believers with help and religious rulings (fatwas) on everyday dilemmas. British callers can ring in with their problems, and access the answer up to 48 hours later by punching in a pin number. The hotline will also include an email facility, with advice sent in English, Urdu and Arabic at a cost of 69p [$1.05] a message.

Since I am still incensed over the “but she is ugly” comments in my previous post, I shall call and ask for instructions on how to publicly flog ugly people to punish them for their boldness.
